UC launches Bearcats Affordability Grant

The University of Cincinnati is making college more attainable for students across Ohio with the creation of the Bearcats Affordability Grant. The new grant will provide a pathway to tuition-free college for students of families who make less than $75,000 per year. Beginning in fall 2026, the Bearcats Affordability Grant will cover the remaining cost of tuition for Ohio residents who are Pell eligible.

Two University of Cincinnati colleges benefit from $4 million gift

University of Cincinnati alumni Mohammad H. Qayoumi, MS ’79, MS ’80, MBA ’84, PhD ’83 and Najia Karim, BS ’82, MEd ’83, RD, have made a $4 million gift supporting two of the university’s colleges. A donation from the couple establishes a fund and an endowed chair at the College of Engineering and Applied Science, as well as an endowed chair at the College of Allied Health Sciences.

UC student takes home first prize in Rubik’s Cube championship

A University of Cincinnati student recently achieved the world record in a unique extracurricular: solving Rubik’s Cubes as fast as possible. Sujan Feist, an undergraduate studying computer science at UC’s College of Engineering and Applied Science, practices quickly solving Rubik’s Cubes, or “speedcubing,” as a break between tough classes and work. His knack for the unique skill landed him in the competitive speedcubing scene.

The Office of Professional Development & Community Impact within the College of Engineering and Applied Science offers a variety of opportunities to students, staff, faculty, and the Greater Cincinnati Area. The office is committed to providing opportunities internally and externally through community outreach, STEM education for K-12 students, incoming student support, current student support and success, and professional development.
